My name is Ioanna Yiomelakis (yo for short) and I have been one of the trainers here at Merimbula Health and Fitness for just over a year where I have had the pleasure of meeting and training lovely people. I work as a fitness consultant in Merimbula Health and Fitness and I would love to get you to your goal step by step.
My journey in health and fitness started way back when I was only 14. Just like majority of teenagers I had a passion for physical activity in particular, I loved dance. I joined my local gym when I was legally old enough and prior to that I would do home workouts for fun after school.
Unfortunately, my journey into fitness hasn't always been smooth sailing when I realised I wasn't overly happy with my body image and how I saw myself physically which impacted my mental and emotional health long term.
After losing weight (a bit too much), I decided it was time to get a professional to give me some guidance and so I went to a personal trainer and a nutritionist when I was 17/18 to put me back on track. After the journey I had been through at that point and experienced first hand what that felt like and what fitness professionals do and how they positively impact an individual, I decided I wanted a career in health and fitness and started studying for my cert III & cert IV in fitness at the beginning of 2019. My aim and goal is to help, motivate and create a positive impact in peoples lives and to create a positive body image.
I can easily say I have been there and done that, I know what it feels like to want to take that step but being intimidated. I'm here to help people of all ages, fitness and experience levels to take that next step to get closer to their personal goals, in a safe environment.

My name is Tamika Millard and I have been working at Merimbula health and fitness for over a year, where I started off as a receptionist and soon started to get my qualifications. I started with doing my Group Exercise Leader which allowed me to teach group classes from here I also completed my MOSSA Group Active course to be able to teach group active. I am now completing my cert III & IV in fitness. I am now teaching classes and assisting with personal coaching. I have a passion for sports and fitness in particular rugby league. I have played football all my life and I love being able to keep fit and healthy and then incorporating this into my training in the gym.
With this I have been able to build and improve my strength in the gym and work on my ball skills on the field. I understand how doing those extra sessions in the gym can help you achieve greater success out on the field or court. I have found this has helped me reach higher goals, improved my performance and reduced injury.
I love helping and motivating people to improve themselves and be the best person they can be. Physical activity has massive impacts on an individual both mental and physically and I want to help everyone understand the positive affects it can have on you. I’m here to motivate and push you along the way to reach your goals no matter the age, or fitness level, everyone has to start somewhere.
